Marita Gardner-Anopol,
opened The Yoga Studio of Kingwood in 2003. Her classes are active, gentle and restorative for anyone any age.
Marita received the gift of yoga from a 98 year-young guru and her mentor, the late Manya Kahn. With a life-long interest in mind-body connection that began at age 18, Marita was the youngest health club owner and TV fitness host in the United States, long before health clubs and running shoes were everywhere. From 1973-1977, “Shaping Up with Marita”, aired daily from a local cable network in New Jersey. In 1977, after suffering a herniated disc, Marita was on her back and nearly out of business. She was told that she would never walk again without surgery. With determination, fortitude and yoga instruction from Manya Kahn, Marita realized the power of the mind and body working in concert and recovered four months later. Certified by Manya Kahn to teach Hatha Yoga, she managed Mrs. Kahn’s exclusive health club for women in NYC.
