Susan Martinez, MSW, LSW, is a Clinical Social Worker, Yoga Therapist, a certified Yoga Instructor (at the 500 hour level) and a Reiki Master/ Teacher. She has taught yoga in New Jersey since 2001. Susan has found great satisfaction and meaning in her own life’s journey through the practice and teaching of yoga and is honored to share what she has learned with others.
Susan was initially drawn to yoga as an extension of her interest in the martial arts, but soon came to see the transformative effects that yoga had on her life. She has studied Hatha & Taoist yoga, and in 2009 began training in the Tantric tradition of the Himalayas with Parvathi Nanda Nath. In August 2009 she completed a rigorous 100 hour Kaula Teacher Training Intensive with Parvathi in the Sri Vidya tradition. She continues her studies in yoga with Dr. Jeff Migdow, MD, Naturopath and former Director of the Kripalu Yoga teacher training program, at Kripalu Yoga Center.
Susan’s teaching has also been inspired by Mukunda Stiles (Structural Yoga Therapy), Erich Schiffman and Yoga Master Sassoon Seo. She is also a practitioner of mindfulness meditation. Susan trained at the Santisukha Meditation Center with the Venerable Sung O Sunim. Her teachings reflect a blend of what she has learned from her teachers over the years combined with direct life experience.
Susan approaches life as an opportunity for individual growth and transformation. She serves as a conduit, guiding her students on their own inward journey where they find peace, joy and the courage to trust their own Inner Wisdom. Ms. Martinez is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists, (IYAT).
Susan has taught at Raritan Valley Community College, In Balance Center for Living, Full Circle Yoga, Princeton Center for Yoga and Health, Studio Zen, Arbor Glen and the Tao Center. She has also taught for the Flemington Recreation Department.
Susan approaches life as an opportunity for individual growth and transformation. She serves as a conduit, guiding her students on their own inward journey where they find peace, joy and the courage to trust their own Inner Wisdom.
