Avalaura is a gifted healer and teacher with a private practice in College Park. She discovered yoga in college, and after a long hiatus found her way back to yoga to assist her in maintaining peace and balance in her life. She recently completed a 250 hour teacher training course at the Yoga Vidya Gurukul in Nashik, India. Her classes are based on Patanjali`s Ashtanga Yoga philosophy and include a blend of hatha yoga asanas, pranayama, chanting, relaxation and fun! A true yogi at heart, she believes yoga is a lifestyle and asanas (physical postures) are one small part of it. Avalaura has a B.S. in Psychology and a Masters degree in Social Work from Howard University. Additionally she is a spiritual counselor, life coach, reiki master and hypnotherapist.
